It essentially seems to say that in order for a setting to qualify as this trope it needs to: I did some searching and found the Fictional Earth trope, which seems at first glance like a perfect fit (it even uses Ace Combat's world map as its page image) but actually reading the description sort of confused me. Additionally, in-game globes and the world map show continents totally different from our world ( see here clockwise from top is "The Arctic", "The Old World", "Enbesa", "The New World" ) Anno 1800: While loosely based on 1800s Earth, all countries and continents have generic names ("The New/Old World", "La Corona", "The Empire") or entirely fictional ones like "Enbesa" (Africa).Suzerain: Similar concept to Ace Combat - see this map ◊.Ace Combat: Famously takes place in the like-reality-but-not "Strangereal" setting - see this map.I was thinking about various games I'd played recently that had a similar aspect - a setting that could be mistaken at first glance for the real world, or a fictional/historical part of it, but are actually part of a Constructed World with its own geography and history. First time posting in TT so forgive any errors or confusion about how to go about this.
